Civil peace is considered one of the most important components of the stability and development of societies, especially in cities that face exceptional political and social challenges such as Jerusalem, where the holy city is experiencing a complex situation due to the measures of the Israeli occupation that deepen the division and weaken the Palestinian social structure, which makes the cohesion of the people of the Jerusalemite community an urgent necessity to preserve the unity of the social fabric and ensure the continuity of a decent life for its people.

The Israeli authorities take systematic measures to obstruct normal life in East Jerusalem, including the confiscation of lands, the demolition of homes, and the imposition of restrictions on movement and construction, in addition to repeated attacks on holy sites. The occupation also restricts the intervention of the Palestinian security services, which leads to a security vacuum that is sometimes exploited to fuel disputes between families and groups within the city.

These policies aim to dismantle the Jerusalemite community and destroy its social structure, as they feed feelings of tension and mistrust among its members, and weaken their ability to confront the occupation as a unified people.
Jerusalem is one of the most special Palestinian governorates, as it is the spiritual and political heart of the Palestinian people, but this special nature makes it more vulnerable to targeting by the occupation, and more in need of community unity and cohesion, unlike other governorates that enjoy greater Palestinian control, as Jerusalem relies on community efforts to maintain civil peace and promote brotherhood among its residents.

In Jerusalem, reformers and family leaders play a fundamental role in addressing family and social disputes that may escalate due to political circumstances, and by promoting a culture of tolerance and reconciliation, these community leaders work to calm conflicts before they turn into crises that threaten civil peace.

Community dialogue is considered one of the effective tools used by notables and reformers to contain crises, and they also encourage the promotion of common Islamic and Christian values ​​that call for tolerance, love and cooperation, which contributes to strengthening social ties and reducing internal tensions.

Promoting a culture of tolerance and brotherhood in Jerusalem contributes to achieving several goals

1. Strengthening national unity and standing together in the face of political and social challenges enhances the community's immunity against the occupation's attempts to sow division.
2. Internal stability that leads to reducing internal conflicts and maintaining societal stability.

3. Conveying a positive global message that shows the world the image of a cohesive Palestinian society despite all challenges, which supports the Palestinian cause in international forums.

The cohesion of the people of Jerusalem is not an option but an existential necessity, especially in light of the Israeli occupation that seeks to displace the Palestinian population and undermine their identity. By activating the role of reformers and promoting the values ​​of tolerance and reconciliation, the Jerusalemite community can remain steadfast and able to resist the challenges imposed on it, so that Jerusalem remains a symbol of unity, peace and hope.
